Ukraine Pavilion & Events COP 28 2023
Conference will be held on 30 November – 12 December 2023
Venue – UAE, Dubai Expo City
Despite Russia’s war, Ukraine continues to work actively on implementing climate and environmental initiatives. Ukraine’s goal at COP28 is to sign the Environmental Declaration and launch the Global Platform for Damage Assessment announced by the President of Ukraine at COP27, as well as to start an international dialogue on the development of a new mechanism for calculating and compensating for losses and damage caused by armed conflicts. The visualisation and programme of the Ukraine pavilion reveals key positions:
- the impact of Russian armed aggression on the climate, environment, human life and health;
- recognition and counteraction to ecocide by implementing clause 8 “Ecological safety” of Volodymyr Zelensky’s Peace Formula;
- bringing to justice the initiator of the war – the Russian Federation;
- green recovery of Ukraine, based on the principles of built back better – built back greener
The Ukraine pavilion will become a hub for discussing the present and future of Ukraine and the world, allowing visitors to experience the tragedy and the beginning of a new life. We will showcase how Ukraine is addressing the environmental challenges caused by the war and the damage done to the environment, which knows no borders. The pavilion will host numerous events dedicated to sustainable development and green reconstruction of Ukraine in such areas as energy, infrastructure, urbanism, climate action, etc. We will also discuss what support we need, with the opportunity to take steps towards establishing justice and greening Ukraine.
