Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk and Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen discussed common ground between our countries in the field of environmental protection
Svitlana Hrynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Mustafa Levent Bilgen, Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine, discussed Turkey’s experience in waste management and the prospects for attracting Turkish investment in Ukraine.
According to Svitlana Hrynchuk, Ukrainian environmentalists are also interested in Turkey’s experience in water management. Like Ukraine, Turkey has uneven access to water resources for its population. The water management experience in this country may be particularly interesting to us in implementing the water supply programme for nine frontline regions.
At the meeting, the parties updated information on cooperation between our countries in the field of forestry, the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and the implementation of Clause 8 on the environmental safety of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula. They also touched upon the issue of green energy in Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
‘I expressed my gratitude to the Ambassador for the opportunity for our experts to learn about Turkey’s experience in implementing the CDM and ETS. This will help us avoid common mistakes in the implementation of such systems in Ukraine in the future. For example, Turkey’s MRV system has been in operation since 2015 and has more than 800 registered installations. As for the greenhouse gas emissions trading system, Turkey is currently actively working on its launch in 2025. I am grateful to the Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen for his efforts in building relations between our countries. I am confident that our best joint achievements will make a significant contribution to the post-war recovery of Ukraine,’ said Svitlana Grinchuk.
