Ukraine and Italy to develop cooperation in water supply to frontline Ukrainian regions
On the sidelines of COP29, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk held a bilateral meeting with Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Piketto-Fratin.
The topics of the meeting included Italy’s G7 presidency, climate ambitions, and preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Rome in 2025.
They also discussed the issue of drinking water supply in the south of Ukraine. The Minister spoke about the government’s programme to provide drinking water to the frontline regions and the difficulties we face in this area as a result of the Russian invasion.
The parties agreed to develop technical and financial cooperation in this area and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the partnership between the ministries of Ukraine and Italy.
‘I thank Mr Gilberto Piketto-Fratina for a fruitful conversation and support for Ukraine. We are uniting our efforts for the sake of a sustainable future for Europe,’ said Svitlana Grynchuk.
