21. November 2024
On the sidelines of the COP29, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk held several bilateral meetings, including
- with Sameh Wahba, Regional Director for Sustainable Development at the World Bank, and Rachel Elizabeth Kite, UK Climate Ambassador, to develop working solutions and agree to continue working in Ukraine to strengthen support for our country. We discussed opportunities in climate change as part of our commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. We touched upon cooperation on renewable energy targets, drinking water quality, waste management, and forest management, as well as the preparation of Ukraine’s third Nationally Determined Contribution and the establishment of a monitoring, reporting and verification system and a greenhouse gas emissions trading system
- with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Climate Change Rick Duke, exchanged views on strengthening cooperation, especially in environmental security. The United States is a powerful partner of Ukraine, and its support is essential. They also discussed ways to develop cooperation in drinking water supply and air quality. We have developed a roadmap for further implementing joint intentions at the technical level.
We are grateful to our partners for their significant support of Ukraine in difficult times and look forward to deepening our cooperation in environmental protection.
