Ukraine not only continues to fight against Russia’s armed aggression, but also remains a symbol of resilience and unity at the main international platform for combating the climate crisis – the UN Climate Change Conference. Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, wrote about this on her Facebook page.
‘Despite all the difficulties, we managed to fulfil international obligations and achieve climate goals, even during the war. At the COP29 in Baku, Ukraine presented much more than its best practices to achieve global climate goals. In addition to fulfilling our commitments, we have a unique mission: to repel Russia’s armed aggression, rebuild the country using the best green technologies and unite the world,’ said Svitlana Grinchuk.
Today, it is extremely important to unite efforts around the issue of the environmental impact of hostilities and rethink the concept of war for the sake of the well-being of future generations. This is exactly what the Ukrainian pavilion at SDO29 and the events within it are about.
‘These few days of my participation in COP 29 are dedicated to expanding partnerships around Point 8 of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, as well as presenting our developments in the field of calculating environmental damage caused by hostilities using the latest methodologies. We work with representatives of the UK, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, the EU, Italy, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Denmark, Norway, Romania, Moldova, Austria, etc. – more than 30 bilateral meetings and a number of events within the pavilion. The list of our allies is constantly growing,’ said Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Ukraine pavilion at COP29 has already become a point of attraction for representatives from different continents and has gained regular visitors and supporters.
