Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Viktoriia Kyreieva took part in the panel discussion ‘How to create a Ukrainian economic and climate miracle’

The discussion focused on effective cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and international partners to ensure investment in implementing the National Energy and Climate Plan. In particular, they discussed priority areas for investment in Ukraine’s decarbonisation.

Viktoriia Kyreieva noted that the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) allows the country to attract investments in green energy and opens the way to climate finance. She stressed that today, green renewables and the introduction of alternative energy sources are not only about energy security but also about the country’s national security.

Fatih Birol (Chairman of the International Energy Agency) and Jeffrey Payette (US Under Secretary of State for Energy) spoke about Ukraine’s energy security as a prerequisite for security in Europe.

The partners at the event expressed their deep respect for the Ukrainian people, who are implementing green initiatives in the fight against the Russian aggressor, and assured of their continued support for Ukraine.
