We are getting ready to represent Ukraine at the COP29 Climate Summit in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, – Svitlana Grinchuk.
This is the third climate summit in Ukraine’s history where we will have our own pavilion.
Svitlana Grinchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, met with Seymur Mardaliyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, to discuss key issues of cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan prior to the biggest climate event of the year – COP29.
‘On the sidelines of the summit, it is important for us not only to present Ukraine’s achievements, but also to become an active participant in the events of partner countries and build new international relations. The COP29 platform is a unique opportunity to promote our environmental agenda, in particular point 8 of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, ‘Environmental Security,’ said Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
Svitlana Hrynchuk and Seymur Mardaliyev paid special attention to the discussion of strengthening cooperation between our countries in the environmental sphere. In particular, Azerbaijan is ready to share its experience in restoring the environment of the de-occupied territories.
‘I am grateful to Seymur Mardaliyev and the Government of Azerbaijan for their cooperation and support of Ukraine. Ukraine’s intensive preparations for COP29 lie ahead: updating global goals, negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, new partners, new documents, etc. We are doing our best to use all the opportunities of the UN COP29 Climate Summit for the benefit of Ukraine,’ emphasised Svitlana Grinchuk.
