Post-war development of Ukraine: making municipalities greener and more resilient

Given the negative impact of the war in Ukraine (decreasing of GDP, damages and destructions in municipalities, wide humanitarian crisis) many Ukrainian municipalities started brainstorming on further recovery that is to be resulted into a long-term recovery strategy. Energy and climate planning is an integral part of these strategies when green transition, energy security and climate resilience are core principles for long-term planning to be applied.
The objectives of the discussion are:
- to present existing challenges and bottlenecks for sustainable local development by 2050 with the focus on climate neutrality and energy poverty;
- to discuss “build-back-better” principle for future post-war recovery of Ukrainian municipalities;
- to stress importance of long-term planning for communities;
- to present existing projects and plans from municipalities and discuss potential financial mechanism and schemes to implement them;
- to create background for further cooperation between UA SIGNs and other partners.
