Fossil fashion unveiled: unraveling fashion brands’ ties to controversial fossil fuel sources and transitioning towards net-zero emissions

06.12.2023

16:00 – 17:30

Join us for an enlightening panel discussion shedding light on the fashion industry’s reliance on fossil fuels. Building upon last year’s groundbreaking report, “Dressed to Kill: Fashion brands’ hidden links to Russian oil in a time of war,” our discussion will assess whether the industry cut ties or remains dependent on the controversial oil coming from Russia. Despite embargoes imposed by Western nations, we’ll explore persistent loopholes, including the influx of diesel, plastic, and synthetic fibres, sneaking into embargoed countries.

The event will also explore how the fashion sector’s practices run counter to the net-zero transition set forth by the UN High-Level Expert Group’s report, “Integrity Matters,” launched at COP27. We invite you to engage with experts as we navigate the path toward a sustainable, fossil-free future in fashion.
