Driving Multi-Level Action for the Transition to a Low-Carbon Future in Agriculture

Background:

As the world strives to combat climate change while simultaneously feeding a growing population, promoting regenerative agricultural practices that can restore soils and enhance carbon stocks is crucial. This side event at COP28 aims to highlight the importance of a sustainable transition in agriculture with experts fostering multi-level stakeholder action from the field, within policymaking, and in finance and technology.

Session objectives:

  1. To bring together a diverse group of stakeholders’ perspectives at various levels including policy development, farmers as businesses and operators, ag industry players, and finance and technology providers to identify pathways for decarbonization in agriculture
  2. Highlight real-world success stories, initiatives and technologies that are currently advancing sustainable and low-carbon agriculture in Ukraine
  3. Encourage partnerships and collaborative commitments to support Ukraine’s efforts in reducing agricultural emissions and turning soils into carbon sinks
  4. Inspire and mobilise participants to champion low-carbon approaches, policies, and collective action
