Deep dive into modeling for Net Zero World and Ukraine’s National Energy and Climate Plan

06.12.2023

15:00 – 16:00

The Net Zero World Initiative and its partner, the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, are developing detailed modeling scenarios and policy measures to advance Ukraine’s reconstruction and decarbonization objectives. The team will present the modeling results included in the Clean Energy Roadmap: From Reconstruction to Decarbonization in Ukraine report. The study shows the advantage of implementing net zero pathways to develop a climate-neutral economy in Ukraine. The net-zero scenario shows how Ukraine can become self-sufficient with domestic production of carbon-neutral energy resources, and become the green energy hub of Europe.

The modeling approach applied to model net-zero scenarios is used for a more detailed analysis to develop Ukraine’s National Energy and Climate Plan through 2030. The modeling results help inform the development of policy measures and implementation actions to support Ukraine’s long-term decarbonization goals.
