On the sidelines of COP29, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grinchuk met with Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Mary Bers Warlick, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera and US Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk.

The issues discussed included strengthening cooperation within the Green Recovery Platform, established to implement Paragraph 8 of the Peace Formula, as well as the development of renewable green energy in Ukraine.

‘The Russian aggression has created unprecedented challenges for Ukraine and the world, but our goal is to ensure that the recovery is based on green principles,’ said Svitlana Grynchuk.

The parties also discussed ways to facilitate financing and create a reliable base for investors willing to develop modern, sustainable green energy in Ukraine.

During the conversation with David Turk, special attention was paid to security issues, the development of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and ongoing projects supported by USAID – the US Agency for International Development. Cooperation in this area has great potential.
