Ukraine is advancing a comprehensive vision for climate-resilient, low-emission development, reflected in the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and the revised Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS). Despite the profound impacts of the full-scale war, Ukraine remains committed to green recovery and EU-aligned climate reforms, recognizing climate policy not only as an environmental imperative but as a core pillar of national resilience, economic modernization, and European integration.

Both the NDC and LT-LEDS were developed through an inclusive, inter-ministerial and multi-stakeholder process involving the Government of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences, and international partners including UNDP and GIZ. The documents are closely aligned in long-term vision, sectoral targets, and enabling policy pathways, yet implementation is the next challenge. Ensuring coherence across sectors, defining realistic investment plans, and mobilizing blended public and private finance are essential for translating ambition into action.

This side event aims to present the strategic alignment between the NDC and LT-LEDS and to showcase pathways and partnerships for implementation, including ongoing and upcoming activities on climate finance, green recovery planning, just transition, MRV systems, and sector-specific decarbonization strategies.
