Ukraine has joined the Climate Club Global Platform – its launch was announced on the sidelines of the UN COP Climate Conference29
The opening was attended by the heads of ministries and national environmental and energy agencies of the participating countries, as well as heads of international organisations such as UNIDO, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, and the Climate Investment Fund. Ukraine was represented at the meeting by Viktoriia Kireeva, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine and Deputy Head of the Ukrainian delegation to COP29.
The Climate Club Global Platform is a support mechanism designed to accelerate the decarbonisation of high-emitting industries and promote zero- and low-emission industrial development in emerging and developing countries.
The Platform leverages international cooperation, finance and technology to ensure a smooth transition of these countries to zero- and low-emission industrial practices, contributing to the achievement of the global net zero and temperature targets set out in the Paris Agreement.
The Platform aims to connect countries in need of support with international investors and help them gain access to the latest technologies. Participation in this initiative will help engage international partners in Ukraine’s green recovery.
